Surprise! The Bayonets are Back
Hello friends, far and wide
I was just thinking about the history of The Bayonets, a band I formed with my friend, Oliver Leiber many years ago.
It was actually on this day 10 years ago that our very first single was released.
The song was called “Sucker For Love”. Our plan was to release one song every six weeks on our own. Well, we released that song on Valentine’s Day, and Maureen Van Zandt saw my post on Twitter, and liked the song, then played it for her lovely husband, Steven Van Zandt who emailed me the next day to ask if there was more of that, who it was, can he edit it for us, and that either way he was going to be playing it on his radio station. Needless to say, we were thrilled with that feedback.
Well, that turned into seven singles from our first LP effort spanning four years.
So here we are, 10 years later to the day and wouldn’t you know it, we have another Coolest Song in the World, this time released on Steven’s own label, Wicked Cool Records!
Argentina was written by Oliver Leiber and me, and features Davey Faragher on bass, Oliver on drums, me on lead vocal and guitars with Lucrecia López Sanz on vocals as well.
It was engineered by Joe Zook, who mixed it as well. Additional engineering was provided by my good friend, Jose Alcantar.
I had this crazy idea that the song would have a break in the middle for a giant wall of saxophones instead of the usual guitar solo. I called my friend, Danny Lipsitz, who recorded it at midnight in NYC with me on zoom, helping to arrange this cool breakdown.

The new single is available now on all the usual streaming sites and the vinyl single may be purchased from our website store, along with other items.
